Coach and racing skipper
Oğuz Ayan was born in Istanbul in 1975. Because his father was a sailor too, he has been wrapped up in sailing almost since birth. By his own account he has taken part in more than 300 races with the national team; he holds national and international titles.
He graduated from the School of Physical Education and Sport at Marmara University in 2000. He coached at Istanbul Yelken Kulübü and Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü and taught adult courses. He served for 13 years as coordinator of the sailing sports schools at Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü.
At the beginning of 2018 he opened his own school and decided to carry on his racing and teaching career under the Oğuz Ayan Sailing banner. Today he coaches corporate teams and races the teams he trains in yacht regattas. The courses run on the school’s fleet of a Farr 40, a One Tonner, a Platu 25 and a Farr 280.
