Fenerbahçe Doğuş Sailing
Fenerbahçe's marine branch since the 1910s
The sailing branch of Fenerbahçe Sports Club became active in the 1910s. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Behzat Baydar and Harun Ülman represented Türkiye in sailing for the first time in the Star class. Activities, which had stagnated during the World War II years, were revived in 1952 when the Maritime Bank provided clubs with modern boats.
From the 1960s to the late 1980s, the branch became the team that won the most Istanbul and Türkiye championships and sent the most athletes to the national team. Today, with the support of the Doğuş Group under the name Fenerbahçe Doğuş Sailing, it operates a development structure ranging from a sailing school to the Olympic level at the Faruk Ilgaz Facilities in Kalamış.
