Arkas Çeşme Sailing Sports Club
From Ilıca to the national team
The club was founded in Çeşme in 1985 through the initiative of volunteers who had dedicated themselves to sailing in İzmir. In 2016, it joined Arkas and took its current name. Its facility is located in Ilıca, at Yıldız Burnu, and it provides amateur maritime (ADB) training at İzmir Marina in Balçova.
Yarış takımları Optimist, ILCA, 420 ve RS Feva sınıflarında çalışıyor. Altyapıdan yetişen sporcular her yıl milli takıma giriyor; 2017’de Yılkan Timurşah Laser 4.7 Dünya Şampiyonu oldu. Yazın 7–15 yaş arası çocuklar için üç haftalık dönemlerle yelken okulu açılıyor. Kulüp bugün yelkenin yanında triatlon, satranç, spor tırmanış, oryantiring ve bisiklet branşlarında da faaliyet gösteriyor.
