Bodrum Open Sea Sailing Sports Club (BAYK)
It was established in 2001 at Milta Bodrum Marina.
Bodrum Open Sea Sailing Sports Club was established on July 5, 2001, with the support of Milta Bodrum Marina. Its aim is to foster friendship and solidarity among sailors, boat owners, and sailing enthusiasts, and to organize yacht races in compliance with international rules. Its founding members are Ömer Vehbi Karacalar, Timoçin Önür, Zeki Özkal, Şenkar Öztüzün, Erol Taşbaşlı, Arto Tekyıldız, and Altan Tekin.
Starting its first race in 2001 with nine boats, the club eventually organized races on international routes such as Bodrum–Kos–Bodrum; the Famous Cup races, attended by celebrities, were a first in Türkiye. The club office is still located inside the marina today; the marina in the city center transforms into a race village during race weeks.

What it does
BAYK Father Cup
The cup race, included in the club's autumn calendar, is being held on October 13–15, 2026.
119th May 19 Youth Cup
A 119-mile nonstop race from Bodrum to Marmaris, organized jointly by MIYC, the Datça Yacht Sports Club, and the Göcek Yacht Club. It was first held in May 2026.
Dragon races
It organizes the races of the Turkish Dragon Association, utilizing the wind of the Bodrum Peninsula and alternative courses.
Autumn Trophy and holiday cups
The Autumn Trophy, consisting of legs, and cup races organized around national holidays like August 30.
Classic yacht rendezvous
In 2022, Performance Classic Yachts, together with Milta Bodrum Marina, organized the ’PC Rendezvous May 2022“ gathering.
Sea rescue support
Bodrum Sea Rescue Association has been supporting BAYK races with a paramedic team and a sea ambulance since its establishment.
Turning points
Foundation and first race
The club was founded on July 5; the same year, it held its first race with nine boats.
PC Rendezvous
The Performance Classic Yachts gathering took place in Bodrum in cooperation with Milta Bodrum Marina.
Dragon World Championship
Türkiye became the host club of the Dragon World Championship 2023.
Four clubs of Muğla
The 119 Mile 19th of May Youth Cup was held as the first joint race with the BAYK, MIYC, Datça, and Göcek clubs.
