
Levent Özgen
One of Türkiye’s first sailing coaches
Levent Özgen was born in Istanbul in 1952. He met sailing young, through his father. Over the years he raced as a helmsman on different boats and in different classes; he was among Türkiye’s first sailing coaches and served for a time as national team coach.
He did his primary and secondary schooling at Galatasaray Lisesi and graduated from the Mechanical Engineering department at Yıldız Teknik University. In his professional life he worked as a mechanical engineer and manager.
In 2009 he founded Hedef Yelken together with Yiğit Eroğlu. According to the school he still teaches today and continues to helm in yacht races.
