
Burak Cora
He started in the Optimist and brought the 49er to Türkiye
Burak Cora met sailing in 1996, in an Optimist at Donanma Yelken Kulübü. After years at the sailing branch of Galatasaray Spor Kulübü, he now races for the sailing branch of Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü.
He has raced in very different classes, from the Optimist to the Snipe, from the Laser to the Pirat, from the 49er to yachts, and has worn the national shirt 38 times. He is the person who brought the Olympic 49er class to Türkiye and continues the class’s work in the country at the Fenerbahçe sailing branch. Between 2011 and 2017 he was deputy chair of the Pirat Class Committee at the Turkish Sailing Federation.
He has been teaching sailing since 2006. Alongside individual students he has prepared the corporate teams of companies such as Akmetal, Enka Holding, Aygaz, Zer and Akpa Kimya, and raced with those teams. He is a graduate of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
